Long Exposure

A long expo night landscape work of Tasik Cinta or Lover's Lake, Sandakan.

I heard some young photographers called this "Slow Shutter" photography. Technically, there is no such thing in photography called "slow shutter". "Slow shutter" is a false term usually used among young and new photographers.

Camera's shutter opens and closes at the same high speed and it definitely doesn't do it in slow motion as in "slow shutter". It is the duration the shutter remaining open set by you that gives you exposure. For instance, if your shutter speed is 1/100, the shutter remains open for 1/100s.

Exposure is how long the shutter remains open before it closes. For example this long exposure work was done in 2s at ISO 3200 of f/2.8 with a White Balance of 3300K. So, the shutter remained open for 2s to get this night scenery before it closed
